This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a confirmed case of Ebola in the territory of the specified country reported between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Any active laboratory-confirmed, or otherwise officially confirmed, Ebola infection identified within the territory of the specified country will qualify, regardless of where exposure, symptom onset, or testing occurred. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the relevant national and international health authorities; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice. The ongoing 2026 Ebola epidemic driven by Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), already exceeding 5,000 confirmed cases since its May declaration as a PHEIC, anchors trader sentiment on this market. Rapid community transmission across multiple provinces has produced confirmed spillovers to Uganda (20 cases, outbreak resolved in July) and at least one case in France, establishing frontrunner countries while elevating implied probabilities for neighbors like South Sudan, Burundi, and the Central African Republic through travel corridors and porous borders. Containment campaigns, vaccination rollouts, and surveillance upgrades serve as key swing factors, with late-year flare-ups or export events capable of shifting consensus ahead of year-end resolution. Historical patterns of DRC outbreaks underscore the potential for unexpected cross-border momentum.
