This market will resolve based on the highest temperature recorded in the 'Daily Observations' table on Weather Underground, not the figure displayed in the 'Day High & Low' summary section; in the event of any discrepancy between the two, the Daily Observations table shall be the primary resolution source not the Day High & Low section. This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Taipei Songshan Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 18 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Taipei Songshan Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/tw/taipei/RCSS. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Trader sentiment for Taipei’s highest temperature on August 18 centers on 34–36 °C, with 35 °C leading at 41.5 % implied probability.** Official Central Weather Administration (CWA) guidance issued August 16 projects a daytime high of 35 °C (95 °F) under mostly clear skies with afternoon thundershowers, consistent with the market’s top two outcomes (34 °C at 28 %, 36 °C at 18 %). Taipei’s subtropical monsoon climate in mid-August typically delivers maximum temperatures of 32–34 °C when sea-level pressure gradients allow strong solar heating over the urban heat island. Current model consensus and the CWA forecast favor the upper end of this range because surface dew points remain elevated (supporting heat retention) while steering flow keeps the region south of any organized monsoon trough. Afternoon convection may briefly interrupt insolation and prevent extremes above 36 °C, which explains the modest 18 % market price on 36 °C and the very low odds (under 3 %) on 37 °C or higher. No active tropical cyclone is forecast to influence northern Taiwan through the 18th, removing the cooling and cloud-cover risk that would otherwise shift probabilities downward. Updated CWA and global model runs on the 17th–18th will be the next key data points; any strengthening of the subtropical ridge or delay in thunderstorm initiation could push realized highs toward 36 °C and lift that outcome’s implied odds.
