OpenAI’s confidential S-1 filing in June 2026 and its last private valuation of $852 billion following the March $122 billion round set the baseline for any IPO market-cap outcome. CEO Sam Altman’s September 2026 statements that a 2026 listing is “ill-advised” due to AI safety and alignment priorities have shifted consensus toward a 2027 debut targeting at least $1 trillion, reflecting both founder insistence and post-SpaceX market caution. Revenue run-rate estimates above $40 billion support premium pricing, yet GAAP losses near $60 billion and Anthropic’s higher private marks introduce uncertainty around final pricing multiples. Traders will monitor upcoming earnings cadence, regulatory filings, and broader tech IPO reception for shifts in implied market-cap probabilities.

In the event of an interruption in the course of the normal trading session on OpenAI's first day of trading (e.g., a circuit breaker or half-day), the market will resolve according to the official closing price of the abbreviated session. If no such official closing price is published, the market will resolve according to the next trading day on which an official closing price is published, treating that as the first day of trading.
