Following an intense early-May heatwave that set multiple UK records above 34°C, atmospheric conditions shifted to a cooler northerly flow with partly cloudy skies and light winds, keeping overnight readings in the typical late-spring range near 17°C. Ensemble forecast models and surface station data aligned closely on this value, with no significant model spread or measurement discrepancies reported. A realistic challenge would require post-event data revisions from the primary weather station or an undetected localized cold pocket, though such adjustments are rare for established UK monitoring networks.
