Recent July 2026 PPI data, released August 13 and printing at 4.7% year-over-year against 4.9% expectations, anchors trader positioning for the August reading due September 10. The miss reflected a 0.7% drop in final demand goods prices, driven by a 3.1% energy decline including gasoline, offset by a 0.2% services gain, while core PPI rose 0.2% month-over-month. This cooling follows June's 5.5% print and aligns with easing upstream pressures amid softer commodity costs. Market-implied odds cluster tightly between 4.7% and 5.1%+, reflecting uncertainty over whether goods deflation persists or services reacceleration and any tariff effects reemerge. Key near-term catalysts include the August CPI release and subsequent labor-market data shaping FOMC expectations ahead of the September meeting.

The resolution source for this market will be the BLS Producer Price Index report released for August 2026 (https://www.bls.gov/ppi/), currently scheduled to be released on September 10, 2026, at 8:30 AM ET. Resolution of this market will take place upon release of the aforementioned data.
Note: the resolution source for this market will be the official monthly BLS PPI news release, which reports PPI over 12-month periods to only one decimal point (e.g., 6.0%).
