Costco’s iconic $1.50 hot dog and soda combo continues to anchor trader sentiment at 91% odds against any price hike before 2027, driven by CEO Ron Vachris’s repeated public vow that the price “will not change as long as I’m around.” This cultural staple, a loss-leader ritual since the 1980s, saw its first menu tweak in four decades this April when a Kirkland bottled-water option joined the fountain soda without touching the sticker price. Vertical integration, membership loyalty incentives, and decades of absorbing inflation have built a powerful industry narrative around protecting the deal. A sudden leadership shift or extreme supply shock could still force an upset, but current signals point to continuity through year-end.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the price of a standard Costco hot dog and 20 oz soda combo before tax exceeds $1.50 in any Costco store in the United States by December 31, 2026, 11:59PM ET. Otherwise this market will resolve to "No".
If Costco announces they will increase the price, this market will resolve to "Yes" regardless of whether that change is actually implemented.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Costco, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
