Official meteorological observations for Wellington on September 13 confirm a daily minimum of 7°C, aligning with the market's near-certain outcome. Clear to partly cloudy conditions under a weakening southerly flow allowed temperatures to fall to this level overnight before rising through the morning, consistent with regional model guidance and historical September climatology where overnight lows typically range from 6–9°C. Key resolution factors include verified readings from primary stations such as Wellington International Airport, with no subsequent drops observed. A realistic shift would require either an unforecast late-evening plunge below the recorded minimum or a post-hoc revision in official data, though current consensus across monitoring agencies makes such changes improbable.
