The B.C. Conservative Party's leadership contest remains unusually fragmented following Kerry-Lynne Findlay's September 2026 resignation after months of caucus defections, expulsions, and policy disputes that reduced the official opposition to a minority caucus. Trader pricing across dozens of outcomes near 50% reflects broad uncertainty over which candidates can consolidate support from remaining MLAs, party members, and donors ahead of a potential early provincial election called by the NDP government. Recent polling and internal party data show no single frontrunner, with divisions over direction—ranging from fiscal conservatism to broader coalition-building—keeping preferences dispersed. Key variables that could shift probabilities include formal candidacy announcements, MLA endorsements, scheduled debates, and any interim leadership moves that clarify the timeline or eligibility rules for the next vote.
