Incumbent Democrat Lucy McBath holds a strongly Democratic-leaning Atlanta suburban district and won her May 2026 primary unopposed, while Republican Kevin Martin secured his nomination with roughly 70% support. McBath carried the seat by about 75% in 2024, reflecting durable partisan composition and limited crossover appeal for the GOP nominee. Georgia’s majority-vote rule requires more than 50% plus one vote on November 3, 2026, to avoid a runoff, and the absence of competitive primaries, high-profile challengers, or major campaign developments since May has reinforced trader consensus that McBath will clear that threshold outright. Late-breaking national shifts, candidate health developments, or unexpected turnout swings remain the primary variables that could still alter the outcome.
