Official forecasts from the National Weather Service place San Francisco’s September 22 high in the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies and southwest flow near 5–10 mph. Persistent marine-layer influence and onshore winds are capping afternoon temperatures despite a broader warming trend that began Tuesday, with 850 mb temperatures still modest and no strong offshore component yet. Model consensus clusters tightly around 66–69 °F, reflecting typical late-September climatology where coastal stratus and sea-breeze moderation keep readings well below inland peaks. Updated model runs and the next NWS discussion will clarify whether any late-day clearing pushes readings into the low 70s or keeps them anchored near 67 °F.
