Recent National Weather Service and model guidance points to a high near 68–70°F for San Francisco on September 5, consistent with the market’s leading 70–71°F bin at 44% implied probability. Persistent onshore westerly flow and a lingering marine layer following the early-September cold front have suppressed daytime heating, keeping readings close to the 1991–2020 climatological average of 70°F. Light winds, possible patchy fog or low stratus at the coast, and sea-surface temperatures in the mid-50s further limit afternoon warming. Ensemble spreads remain narrow, with only modest upside risk to the low 70s if breaks of sun develop earlier than expected.
