Longtime Democratic incumbent Joe Courtney anchors the race in Connecticut's 2nd district, a seat with a Cook Partisan Voter Index of D+4 that he carried by double digits in 2024. Race ratings from Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato's Crystal Ball classify the contest as solid or safe Democratic ahead of the August 11 primaries and November 3 general election. Limited Republican primary activity and Courtney's consistent electoral performance sustain trader consensus around a Democratic hold. A national Republican surge, an unexpected retirement, or a primary surprise could introduce volatility, though structural factors currently limit those pathways.
