Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus indicate a Thursday high in the mid to upper 70s for Chicago, driven by northerly winds behind a frontal passage that limit daytime heating under mostly sunny skies. This setup favors 76–79°F readings at official stations like O’Hare, with subtle differences in boundary-layer mixing, exact wind speeds, and urban heat island effects creating the narrow spread between 76–77°F and 78–79°F bins. Trader positioning reflects this tight range amid typical late-summer variability, where small shifts in forecast soundings or observational adjustments can alter the recorded maximum before resolution. Updated model runs and NWS briefings remain key near-term catalysts.
