Official meteorological forecasts for Wellington on September 17 point to a daytime maximum of 14–15°C under mostly cloudy skies with moderate rain and northerly winds shifting southerly by evening, aligning closely with the market's leading 15°C (55.5%) and 14°C (32.5%) outcomes. Recent model runs from agencies like MetService emphasize this range, slightly above the September climatological average of around 12.5°C, while noting potential for brief warmer spells near midday before cooling. The strong consensus on these thresholds, driven by consistent atmospheric patterns including high humidity and precipitation, leaves lower or higher extremes with minimal implied probability. Updated forecast briefings tomorrow morning could refine the exact peak if steering winds or rainfall timing shift.
