**A low-pressure system crossing western Washington this weekend is the main driver behind the near-even split between 47°F-or-below (49.5%) and 66°F-or-higher (49.0%) outcomes for Seattle’s September 14 minimum.** The system brings rain and southerly flow Sunday, then yields to building high pressure Monday, with National Weather Service guidance projecting mid-to-upper-60s highs and upper-40s-to-mid-50s lows—below normal for mid-September. Model differences in overnight cloud cover, marine-layer depth, and wind speed create the uncertainty: clearer skies after frontal passage could enhance radiational cooling toward the lower tail, while lingering clouds or stronger onshore flow would limit the drop. Historical September lows average near 53°F, so the market’s tail-heavy pricing reflects trader weighting of these short-term variables ahead of the next model runs.
