Recent National Weather Service and model consensus forecasts for New York City indicate overnight lows on September 3 in the low 70s°F, driven by a warm, humid air mass with southwest flow, extensive cloud cover, and scattered showers that limit radiational cooling. This setup has produced the closely bunched market-implied odds favoring 70–73°F bins, as persistent dew points near 70°F and minimal clear-sky intervals suppress the typical seasonal drop toward the 65°F climatological average. Traders appear to weigh the risk of slightly cooler readings if showers clear earlier against the higher probability of continued warmth under the current pattern, with final resolution hinging on the precise timing of any evening convection and wind shifts.
