Recent polling for Bahia’s two Senate seats shows a tight contest driven by the PT’s decision to run ex-governor Rui Costa and Jaques Wagner on the same ticket, alongside the opposing alliance backing incumbent Angelo Coronel (Republicanos) and João Roma (PL). August surveys place the two PT names comfortably ahead, yet the gap between the projected second- and third-place finishers remains narrow because of high undecided shares, overlapping voter bases in the PT-leaning interior, and Coronel’s incumbency advantages in resource allocation. Party realignments after the 2025 national split involving União Brasil, combined with the concurrent gubernatorial race, continue to shape coalition incentives and could shift second-place probabilities if turnout patterns or last-minute endorsements favor one opposition name over the other before the October vote.
