Paul St-Pierre Plamondon of the Parti Québécois holds the strongest trader consensus for next premier at 76.5% because recent seat projections show his party leading in enough francophone ridings under first-past-the-post rules to form government, even amid a tight popular-vote race. Christine Fréchette of the Coalition Avenir Québec trails at 20.3% as the incumbent party has narrowed gaps in some polls but faces headwinds from economic pressures including U.S. tariffs and debt-service costs. The October 5, 2026 election campaign has featured exchanges over a potential PQ sovereignty referendum timeline and federal-provincial dynamics, with minor candidates such as Charles Milliard of the Liberals remaining at low single digits due to limited projected seat gains.
