Anthropic continues releasing iterative upgrades within its Claude 4 series, most recently launching Opus 4.7 in mid-April 2026 with gains in long-running coding tasks, higher-resolution vision, and agent capabilities, rather than advancing to a full Claude 5 generational model. This pattern aligns with the company’s focus on refining large language model performance, expanding context windows, and lowering inference costs amid competition from OpenAI’s GPT-5 timeline and Google’s Gemini releases. Leaks around a Sonnet 5 codenamed “Fennec” surfaced earlier in 2026 without confirmation, while internal projects such as Mythos suggest ongoing architecture work. Traders watch for official Anthropic announcements or developer conference appearances that could signal a shift to Claude 5 in late Q3 or Q4 2026, with product timelines subject to typical AI development slippage.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
