Incumbent Republican Andy Harris secured renomination with over 80% in the June 2026 primary and enters the November general election against Democrat Dan Schwartz in Maryland’s 1st congressional district. The Eastern Shore seat maintains a clear Republican registration edge and has drawn consistent “solid” or “safe” ratings from nonpartisan analysts. A Democratic-led redistricting effort aimed at altering the district’s lines failed after Senate inaction and a late-August court ruling preserved existing boundaries. Trader consensus at roughly 90% Republican reflects the district’s partisan composition, the incumbent’s long tenure, and limited Democratic infrastructure. A realistic shift would require an unforeseen development such as a major candidate scandal, serious health event, or a sustained national political wave large enough to overcome the district’s structural Republican advantage.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
