Recent National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model runs favor a high near 85°F for Chicago on September 8, driven by south to southeast winds advecting warmer air ahead of a weak frontal boundary, following several days of above-normal heat in the low-to-mid 90s. Partly cloudy skies and a modest chance of showers or thunderstorms late in the day could limit peak heating and create the narrow spread among the 82–87°F bins that dominate trader positioning. Climatological norms place the September 8 average high at 79°F, so current conditions reflect a lingering warm anomaly rather than extreme deviation. Updated model guidance and afternoon NWS briefings remain the key near-term catalysts that could shift implied probabilities before resolution.
