Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance shows a cooling trend for Chicago on September 7 driven by persistent northeast to east flow off Lake Michigan, which limits daytime heating and favors highs in the upper 70s to near 80°F inland with mid-70s near the lake. Partly cloudy skies and modest dew points further cap maximum temperatures near the long-term September 7 average of 79°F. Trader consensus clusters on the 78–81°F bins because ensemble runs show little spread beyond that range absent unexpected changes in cloud cover or wind direction. Updated NWS forecasts and any late shifts in steering flow will be the key near-term catalysts for odds movement.
