A warming trend driven by a building upper-level ridge, weak offshore flow, and a shrinking marine layer is the main factor lifting trader-implied odds for 78–81 °F on September 23. National Weather Service guidance and ensemble models show heights rising toward 582 dam with reduced onshore flow, limiting morning low clouds and allowing stronger daytime heating across the Los Angeles basin. This setup has produced recent daily highs 3–8 °F above the late-September climatological average of ~76 °F at LAX, with many short-range forecasts centering on 80–85 °F. Market pricing clusters near the lower end of that range, reflecting uncertainty in exact coastal-inland gradients and the possibility that lingering marine influence or model spread could cap the peak slightly below the warmest guidance. Updated NWS and GFS runs tomorrow morning will provide the final observational inputs before the daily maximum is recorded.
