Kentucky's 6th congressional district features an open seat after incumbent Republican Andy Barr retired to pursue a Senate bid, creating a general election matchup between Republican nominee Ralph Alvarado and Democratic nominee Zach Dembo following their May 19, 2026 primaries. The district carries an R+7 Partisan Voter Index and has consistently favored Republicans in recent cycles, though it encompasses Lexington and surrounding areas that introduce some Democratic strength. Early general election polling shows narrow margins or statistical ties between the nominees, while nonpartisan ratings classify the race as Solid or Likely Republican. These elements shape trader consensus around a modest Republican edge ahead of the November 3 contest, tempered by the open-seat dynamics and the district's relatively moderate profile within the state.
