The 2026 Quebec general election on October 5 features an open seat in Louis-Hébert after long-time CAQ MNA Geneviève Guilbault opted not to run again. Marc-Antoine Bernier (CAQ) and Chloé Fauchon (PQ) lead the field, with Richard Bélanger (Liberal), Marcos Archambault (Conservative), and Anne-Sophie Roy (Québec solidaire) also nominated. The riding sits in a competitive Capitale-Nationale area under a new electoral map, where provincial polling shows the PQ challenging the incumbent CAQ government amid voter concerns over housing, healthcare access, and education pressures. Recent projections from sites such as 338Canada treat the contest as a toss-up between the top two parties, reflecting the absence of riding-specific surveys, the open-seat dynamic, and the short campaign window that began after writs dropped on August 27. Further candidate announcements before the September 17 nomination deadline, local debates, or shifts in provincial momentum could widen the gap among contenders.
