**Trader sentiment on Chicago's September 24 minimum temperature remains closely split between sub-48°F and 66°F+ outcomes because short-range forecast models show notable spread in expected overnight cooling.** Persistent northeast flow off Lake Michigan, combined with extensive cloud cover and dew points in the low-to-mid 50s, is limiting radiational cooling and keeping the thermal profile moderate. Current guidance from multiple sources points to a low in the mid-to-upper 50s, aligning with the September climatological average of 55°F, yet model runs differ on the exact strength of the onshore breeze and any breaks in cloudiness that could allow sharper drops. With resolution just 48 hours away, traders are weighting the potential for forecast revisions from the National Weather Service and updated model ensembles, as even modest shifts in wind or sky cover can swing the overnight minimum by several degrees. Historical records show September 24 lows ranging from the mid-30s to the low 70s, underscoring the genuine uncertainty at this lead time.
