Incumbent Republican Bill Huizenga faces Democratic state Sen. Sean McCann in Michigan’s 4th district, where primaries concluded August 4 with both nominees advancing comfortably. The race remains tight due to the district’s modest R+3 partisan voting index and leftward shifts in parts of Ottawa and surrounding counties, where recent presidential margins narrowed despite Huizenga’s prior double-digit win. McCann’s endorsements, including from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and fundraising add competitiveness against the incumbent’s name recognition and legislative record. Trader consensus near even odds reflects limited polling separation, historical midterm patterns, and uncertainty over turnout in this swing-leaning area ahead of November 3. Further surveys, candidate debates, or national economic signals could widen margins by clarifying voter priorities on key issues.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
