Incumbent Republican Richard Hudson faces Democratic nominee Richard Ojeda in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district ahead of the November 3, 2026 general election. Recent redistricting strengthened the seat’s established Republican tilt, reflected in its R+8 partisan voting index and prior presidential margins favoring Republicans by double digits. Hudson advanced unopposed through the Republican primary while Ojeda secured the Democratic nomination in March. Cook Political Report rates the contest Solid Republican, consistent with the district’s structural advantages and the incumbent’s established record. These factors underpin trader consensus assigning the Republican Party the clear lead in implied probability for the general election outcome.
