Nellie Pou’s strong position as the Democratic incumbent in New Jersey’s 9th congressional district stems from her unopposed June 2026 primary win, substantial fundraising lead exceeding $2.6 million, and the seat’s modest Democratic lean reflected in its D+2 partisan voting index. Forecasters including the Cook Political Report upgraded the race to Likely Democratic after the 2025 gubernatorial results showed improved Democratic performance in the district. Republican nominee Rosemary Pino secured her nomination by a narrow margin but trails significantly in resources and faces structural headwinds in a district that favored Democrats in the prior cycle. Trader consensus at 90.9% Democratic probability aligns with these fundamentals. Potential shifts could arise from major national political realignments, late-campaign developments affecting turnout, or unexpected candidate controversies before November 3.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
