Incumbent Democratic Representative Seth Magaziner seeks a third term in Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district, a seat with a modest Democratic lean reflected in its Cook Partisan Voting Index and consistent party control since the 1990s. The race carries a Solid Democratic rating, supported by Magaziner’s prior 58 percent general election margin, substantial fundraising edge, and limited Republican opposition from primary contenders Victor Mellor and Stephen Skoly. An independent candidate has also filed, though without evident momentum to alter the contest. Primaries are scheduled for September 9, 2026, with the general election on November 3. Trader consensus favoring the Democratic nominee could shift only in the event of a major scandal, health issue, or unusually strong national Republican performance capable of overcoming the district’s structural partisan balance.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
