Incumbent Republican Joe Wilson secured his party's nomination in the June 2026 primary with a strong 74 percent showing against challengers, reinforcing the district's established Republican lean where the party has held the seat for decades. This outcome, combined with the district's central South Carolina geography spanning from Columbia to the Augusta area, has anchored trader consensus around an 85.5 percent probability for a Republican victory in the November general election. The Democratic nominee, Zyon Khalifa, faces structural headwinds in a seat that delivered 59.5 percent for the GOP incumbent in 2024, reflected in the 14.5 percent implied probability for the Democratic Party. Markets on specific candidates remain closely balanced near 50 percent as traders assess general election dynamics ahead of the November 3 contest.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
