Incumbent Republican Jake Ellzey secured the GOP nomination in the March 2026 primary with 66% of the vote against two challengers and now faces Democrat Danny Minton in the November general election for Texas's 6th congressional district. Multiple nonpartisan forecasters rate the race Solid or Safe Republican, consistent with the district's R+14 partisan voter index and its suburban Dallas-Fort Worth footprint. Ellzey's established fundraising edge and the absence of competitive Democratic opposition reinforce trader consensus around a Republican outcome. Late shifts remain possible only through a broad national Democratic surge, an unforeseen scandal or health event affecting the incumbent, or unresolved legal challenges to the 2025 redistricting map.
