Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance point to a daily maximum temperature in the low to mid-90s for Houston on September 12, driven by southeasterly flow off the Gulf bringing elevated moisture and instability. Afternoon convective development, with 40-50% storm chances, is expected to cap peak readings through cloud cover and evaporative cooling, while heat indices climb above 100°F under partly sunny skies. This setup aligns with late-summer climatology for the region, where typical highs hover near 91-93°F absent strong high pressure or tropical influences. Traders appear to weigh the balance between model consensus on 91-93°F maxima and the potential for isolated stronger storms or clearer breaks to push readings slightly higher or lower, with fresh model runs and local observations likely to refine probabilities ahead of market resolution.
