Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model runs point to an overnight low in the mid-to-upper 60s for Chicago on September 9, driven by a passing cold front that brings showers and a shift to northwest winds after midday. This pattern limits overnight radiative cooling under partly cloudy skies while keeping dew points elevated near 60–65°F, supporting minimum temperatures clustered around 66–72°F. Trader consensus reflects model spread in the precise timing of clearing and wind direction, which can alter the lowest reading by several degrees. The 67°F-or-below bin draws support from potential for stronger post-frontal cooling, while the 70–73°F range aligns with guidance showing persistent moisture and lighter winds. Historical September 9 lows average near 61°F, but the current warmer baseline and frontal timing keep probabilities tightly grouped.
