Official National Weather Service observations at Chicago O'Hare recorded a daily minimum of 65°F early on September 8, 2026, five degrees above the 1991–2020 normal and well above historical record lows near 45°F. This single verified reading from the primary station used for such markets anchored trader consensus at 99.5% implied probability for the 64–65°F bin. Mild overnight conditions under weak southerly flow and clear skies prevented further cooling, while daytime highs reached the mid-80s. Only an undetected sensor glitch or use of an alternate station could realistically shift the outcome, though both remain improbable given the consistency of preliminary climatological data and the absence of unusual atmospheric patterns.
