**Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and other sources point to a high near 91°F in Houston on September 9, 2026, with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after midday.** This aligns with the market’s leading 90-91°F bin at 46.5% implied probability, followed by 92-93°F (23%) and 88-89°F (18.5%). Persistent high humidity, easterly flow around 5 mph, and strong daytime heating will support scattered to numerous afternoon storms. These storms typically limit peak temperatures by increasing cloud cover, producing rain-cooled air, and reducing solar insolation. Historical September 9 averages near 90.5°F provide context, but the current pattern favors slightly below-normal maxima due to convective activity. Recent model runs and NWS point forecasts show limited spread, with most guidance clustered in the lower 90s; any delay in storm initiation or weaker coverage could push readings toward the mid-90s, while earlier or heavier rain would favor the upper 80s. Heat indices are expected to reach 105–106°F despite the modest air temperatures, underscoring the role of moisture in the thermodynamic environment. The market’s tight distribution around 90–93°F reflects this consensus amid typical late-summer forecast uncertainty.
