Current National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance for New York City points to an overnight low of 69–71 °F on September 2, driven by persistent cloud cover, high humidity, and easterly flow that limits radiational cooling. These conditions keep surface temperatures several degrees above the 1991–2020 climatological average low of 65.5 °F. Trader consensus reflected in the market—46 % on 68–69 °F and 31 % on 70–71 °F—aligns with this forecast consensus, while lower-probability bins capture the small chance of modest model cooling or localized clearing. Updated model runs and any late-day observations will be the next key data points before resolution.
