Recent forecasts from the National Weather Service and ensemble models indicate a high likelihood of widespread cloud cover, showers, and southeasterly flow over the Northeast on September 2, 2026, which will limit surface heating and cap daytime maxima in the mid-to-upper 70s°F across New York City. Persistent moisture and reduced insolation differentiate this pattern from clearer, more stable regimes that could push readings into the low 80s, while the absence of strong cold advection keeps the floor above the low 70s. Traders appear to weigh these near-term model runs—updated within the last 24 hours—against typical early-September climatology, producing tightly clustered implied probabilities across adjacent temperature bins.
