Costco’s long-standing commitment to its $1.50 hot dog combo as a core loss-leader and brand promise continues to anchor trader consensus against any price hike before 2027. Recent executive statements, including CEO Ron Vachris’s March 2026 video pledge that the price “will not change as long as I’m around,” alongside the CFO’s emphasis on the item’s role in delivering everyday value amid economic uncertainty, have reinforced the market’s 93.5% implied probability on “No.” The combo sold over 245 million units in fiscal 2025, and minor 2026 updates like the bottled-water option left the price untouched, mirroring decades of historical precedent. While a sudden leadership shift or extreme cost pressures could theoretically test this stance, traders see little near-term catalyst capable of overriding the entrenched corporate narrative.
