Brazil’s push to restrict Discord stems from child safety failures under the 2026 Digital ECA statute, amplified by an August 12 ANPD order suspending the platform’s Go Live livestreaming after a 13-year-old’s suicide linked to harmful content on the service. The Attorney General’s Office followed an August 6 report by seeking a full court-ordered block, citing inadequate age verification, real-time moderation, and systemic risks to minors—echoing Brazil’s prior X suspension. Discord has rolled out age assurance tools since March but faces demands for stronger parental linking and content controls; regulators note the platform lacks live access for automated detection. Key near-term catalysts include the AGU’s civil action progress and any compliance filings that could lift the feature ban or trigger broader suspension.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if use of Discord is banned within Brazil through a nationwide, legally effective government or court order and such ban is publicly confirmed between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A legally-effective nationwide court order requiring either the temporary suspension of Discord’s activities in Brazil or a prohibition on Discord operating in Brazil will qualify as a ban for the purposes of this market, regardless of whether technical implementation of the order has been completed.
An order that is stayed, suspended, or overturned before taking legal effect will not qualify. If a qualifying order takes legal effect, a subsequent stay, suspension, or reversal will not affect the market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Brazilian government, courts and Discord, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
