A suspension or leave qualifies only when Aleksandar Vučić formally ceases to be President. Indefinite suspensions will not qualify. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the Serbian government; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Aleksandar Vučić’s June 2026 announcement that he would resign “within weeks” after 18 months of student-led protests has shaped market positioning on his departure from the presidency. His second and final term was scheduled to conclude in March 2027, but an early exit would trigger presidential elections within 90 days under Serbia’s constitution while enabling simultaneous parliamentary polls, widely expected in October or November 2026. Vučić has ruled out seeking a third presidential term and signaled interest in returning as prime minister if his Serbian Progressive Party prevails, mirroring past power rotations. Limited concrete follow-through on the resignation by early August, combined with skepticism that the move serves mainly as a tactical reset amid ongoing domestic pressure, keeps trader focus on the timing of formal departure versus the scheduled mandate end and any potential delays from regional developments or internal polling.
