This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Greenland between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Inatsisartut, or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Inatsisartut prior to their scheduled election at the end of the legislative term. An announcement of an intention to call an election, a failed vote of no confidence, or the collapse of the governing coalition will not by itself qualify toward a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Greenland and the Inatsisartut; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Greenland’s Inatsisartut last held a general election in March 2025, installing a Democrats-led coalition under Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen with a mandate extending into 2029. No parliamentary dissolution, government collapse, or procedural trigger for an early vote has emerged since. Current priorities center on a trilateral security agreement with Denmark and the United States slated for signature at the UN General Assembly, followed by routine national parliamentary ratification rather than new elections. Independence-related timelines and external diplomatic pressures have not produced domestic instability sufficient to prompt a snap call by year-end. Trader consensus therefore places an 88 percent implied probability on no snap election occurring, reflecting the absence of catalysts that historically precede early Greenlandic parliamentary votes.
