Following the March 22 parliamentary elections, where Robert Golob's Freedom Movement secured the most seats but no majority, a center-right bloc comprising Janez Janša's SDS, Jernej Vrtovec's NSi, Anže Logar's Democrats, and Resni.ca elected Zoran Stevanović as National Assembly speaker on April 10 with 48 votes—exceeding the 46 needed for a majority government. This pivotal procedural win has boosted trader consensus on Janša as next prime minister, reflecting his party's size, prior experience, and coalition leadership amid stalled left-center talks. Vrtovec trails as a potential unifying figure, while Golob's odds reflect his bloc's fragmentation. President Nataša Pirc Musar will soon consult parties before nominating a candidate for a confidence vote.
