Forecast models from the National Weather Service and private sources converge on a mid-90s peak for Atlanta on September 2, with highs of 94–97°F under mostly sunny skies, light easterly flow, and minimal afternoon cooling. This setup sustains warmth above the 86.5°F seasonal average amid a lingering high-pressure ridge and dew points supporting heat indices near 100°F. The tight split between 94–95°F and 96–97°F market bins reflects model spread in afternoon mixing and exact timing of any thin cloud cover, while lower-probability bins above 98°F would require stronger subsidence or a delayed sea-breeze front. Updated NWS area forecast matrices and 12Z model runs over the next 48 hours will likely tighten the range before resolution.
