Recent hawkish signals from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole, combined with Middle East geopolitical tensions that lifted oil prices and global yields, have supported the US Dollar Index near the 99.5 level during the week of August 31. DXY opened the period around 99.70, traded as low as 99.35 intraday, and settled near 99.43–99.68 amid mixed economic prints and repriced September rate-hike odds near 60%. Rising Treasury yields across the curve and firmer interest-rate differentials versus G10 peers provided the key lift, while softer prior inflation and employment data capped upside. The September FOMC meeting remains the next major catalyst for trader positioning in DXY.
