Incumbent Mike Thompson, a Democrat serving since 1999, faces a primary challenge from Eric Jones in California's 4th Congressional District, a strongly Democratic area redrawn after recent census adjustments. Both candidates have raised millions, with Jones investing substantial personal funds, while multiple Republican entrants including Raymond Riehle, Sharon Brown, and Mandy Ghusar trail significantly in spending and visibility. California's top-two primary system on June 2 means the leading pair advances to November regardless of party, and the district's partisan composition has kept attention on the Democratic matchup since the March filing deadline. No major late developments have shifted the field ahead of Election Day.
