Elevated energy prices stemming from the Middle East conflict continue to drive market-implied odds, with the 3.1%+ outcome for 2026 euro area HICP inflation holding a 46.2% probability. July 2026 flash data showed headline inflation rising to 2.9% year-over-year from 2.8% in June, fueled by energy components accelerating to 10.0%, while services inflation reached 3.3% and core measures firmed to 2.5%. ECB June staff projections placed the 2026 average at 3.0%, with professional forecasters clustered around 2.7% amid mixed revisions following partial de-escalation signals. Traders price in these levels given the pass-through risks to goods and wages, the ECB's June 25-basis-point hike, and upcoming September data that could confirm or ease pressures before year-end resolution.
