Incumbent Clay Higgins holds a dominant position in Louisiana’s 3rd congressional district ahead of the November 3, 2026, open primary. The district’s consistent Republican tilt and Higgins’ prior showings above 70 percent create a steep barrier for challengers. Democratic candidates John Day, Tia LeBrun, and Caleb Walker, along with limited Republican opposition, are expected to split the non-incumbent vote. Recent qualifying and the shift to the November date following the Supreme Court map ruling have not altered the field in ways that threaten a majority outcome. Traders therefore view an outright win—avoiding a December 12 runoff—as the clear consensus outcome.
