The 2026 Greater Sudbury, Ontario mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 26, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next mayor of Greater Sudbury, Ontario as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from Greater Sudbury, Ontario.**Incumbent Paul Lefebvre holds a commanding position in the October 26, 2026 Greater Sudbury mayoral race, reflected in trader pricing at 76.5 percent, while most challengers remain in single digits or lower.** As the sitting mayor who secured 52.4 percent in the 2022 contest, Lefebvre benefits from name recognition, institutional experience, and recent high-profile advocacy on economic issues including critical minerals development, U.S. tariff responses, and provincial support for northern Ontario jobs. He has also renewed calls for legislative changes on homelessness, mental health, and addictions treatment, aligning with ongoing municipal priorities. The field includes multiple registered candidates such as Miranda Rocca-Circelli (15 percent), Troy Crowder (7.5 percent), Bob Johnston, Joseph Boutros, Keenan Menard, Michael McIntosh, and Rodney Newton (all around 3–3.5 percent), plus several lower-probability entrants. Bill Leduc withdrew from the mayoral race to seek re-election as a councillor, further consolidating the incumbent’s edge. Nominations closed in late August with no major late-breaking developments or consolidated opposition emerging to alter the consensus. Traders appear to price in the structural advantages of incumbency and the absence of polling or events that would materially shift the outcome before election day.
