Recent forecast models from the National Weather Service and ensemble runs indicate a northerly flow of cooler air arriving Sunday night, driving trader consensus toward a low of 53°F or below as the most probable outcome for Chicago. This reflects a shift from recent above-average conditions, with guidance showing overnight lows potentially dipping into the mid-50s amid partly cloudy skies and light northerly winds. Historical averages near 60°F provide context, but the current pattern aligns with early autumn cooling episodes that have produced similar readings in past Septembers. Key variables include exact frontal timing and cloud cover, which could moderate or enhance radiative cooling; updated model runs overnight will refine these probabilities ahead of the overnight minimum.
